Ambulance and Paramedic Driver Training

Tockwith Training offer both C1 and D1 driver training to enable individuals who passed their car driving test after 1997 to drive an ambulance or a passenger transport vehicle (minibus).

Tockwith Training have been helping drivers to gain vocational driving licences since 1971, since 1997 we have been supplying quality C1 and D1 driver training.

Our instructors are DSA registered, so you can rest assured they are highly qualified and extremely competent. It's not the law that instructors are registered/tested with the DSA, unlike some companies we don't just employ a truck driver untrained in instructional techniques. Statistics prove that on average DSA registered instructors have a higher pass rate.

We don't use old haulage vehicles either, our training vehicles are chosen for the sole purpose of driver training. For C1 training we use an Iveco Daily, this vehicle has car like controls such as hydraulic ABS brakes, simple 6 speed gearbox and light power assisted steering.

Customers come to us from many miles away just because we can offer C1 training on an ambulance sized vehicle. Whilst it may make sense for a limited few individuals to learn on a full sized large truck they will find it more expensive and harder to pass the driving test. By training with us we aim to get you through your C1 test quickly, easily and save you money. On average it will take 3 days on our C1 van to reach the required test standard but this will extend to 5 days on a big truck with air brakes, more gears with a much bigger/longer vehicle. The difference in cost will be over £500, and that's why people travel to us from a far, there are a number of local places to stay, just ask for details.

D1 training for individuals seeking employment with patient transport is conducted with the same highly qualified instructors using a modern Ford 18 seater minibus.

Please look at our vehicles page for more specific information on our C1 and D1 vehicles.
